Stink Bugs
The brown marmorated stink bug is an invasive species from Asia that has become one of the most significant fall-invading pests in the United States since its introduction in the late 1990s. Shield-shaped and mottled brown, they invade structures in enormous numbers in fall seeking overwintering sites. Their tendency to aggregate on sun-warmed walls and enter through every available gap makes exclusion extremely challenging. Key Behaviors
Brown marmorated stink bugs aggregate on south and west-facing walls in September and October before entering structures through gaps around windows, doors, utility penetrations, and under siding. They overwinter in wall voids, attics, and behind curtains. On warm days, they become active and emerge into living spaces. They do not reproduce indoors and do not feed on household materials. The same structures tend to be invaded year after year.
