Key Behaviors
Paper wasps build their characteristic hexagonal-celled nests from chewed wood fiber mixed with saliva. They are generally non-aggressive when away from the nest but will sting readily to defend it. Fertilized queens overwinter in attics, wall voids, and under bark, emerging in spring to start new colonies.
